Computer-Based Testing beginning January 1, 2010

BOMI examinations starting 2010

Effective January 1, 2010, Computer-Based Testing will be implemented for all BOMI International examinations (except Ethics is Good Business® ShortCourse™*), an additional testing fee will apply.  Exams will be administered at Pearson Vue owned or authorized, secure locations.  Live scheduling will begin October 1, 2009 for exam appointments after December 31, 2009. 

Eligibility

The testing fee provides for one testing session during the eligibility period, which can be scheduled at your convenience at a Pearson VUE Testing Center of your choice.  If your eligibility period expires and you have not taken the exam, you will incur an Exam Administration Fee for an additional six-month eligibility period.  For more information on BOMI policies including eligibility periods, rescheduling and cancellation options, please review the BOMI International CBT Student Handbook.Scheduling To schedule your exam appointment, please contact a Pearson VUE agent by calling 866-998-2664 or visit www.pearsonvue.com/bomi/ and select the following option from the navigation on the right portion of the screen:

After you sign in using the information listed above, you can schedule/change your test appointments, view your testing history and view/modify your personal information.  In addition, you can access a variety of resources including a tutorial and practice exam, test center locator, what you need to bring to the testing session, and more.  A confirmation letter is automatically sent after you schedule your test appointment.

Singapore’s First Zero Energy Building Launched at the Inaugural Singapore Green Building Week

Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development, today officially opened Singapore’s first retrofitted Zero Energy Building (ZEB) located at the BCA Academy. The ZEB is also the first existing building in Southeast Asia to be fully retrofitted with green building design features and technologies. It is aBCA’s flagship R&D project. Housing fully functioning classrooms, a library, multipurpose hall and offices, the ZEB is used as a test-bed for innovativebuilding designs and energy efficient building solutions, especially for existing buildings.

Third BOMI programme gets approval from US Green Council

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has approved BOMI’s Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part II (Design II) course. This is the third BOMI class that USGBC has approved in the past two months.

As an approved USGBC Education Provider, BOMI is a third-party organization that offers peer-reviewed classes accepted by USGBC for their credentialing maintenance requirements. Design II underwent a rigorous review process in which a team of subject matter experts evaluated the course based on its content and instructional design quality

“This is the third BOMI course to achieve this important distinction,” said Mr. Horn, adding that BOMI is evaluating additional courses for submission to the Council for its consideration

BOMI Dictionary Merges with Web-Based FMpedia© Standardizing Building Industry Terms

BOMI (Building Owners and Managers Institute) International, has announced a partnership with the IFMA
Foundation to bring a wiki-like web-based glossary of building terms to members of the building industry. FMpedia © is, to a large extent, modeled on the Wikipedia model (www.wikipedia.com). FMpedia is a dynamic, real time, open, Internet-based glossary where contributors are welcome to add new FM terms and definitions, and comment on existing ones. It is meant to be as broad and international as possible. The glossary is non-commercial, supported by the IFMA Foundation, and contains no product endorsements or paid sponsors.

BOMI endorsed by US Green Building Council (LEED) as Education Provider

BOMI Education Gets a Nod from USGBC

BOMI (Building Owners and Managers Institute) International
announced today that its Energy Management and Controls class has been approved by
the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). With the acceptance of this course, BOMI
becomes an approved USGBC Education Provider. Education Providers are third-party
organizations offering the highest-quality education that has been peer reviewed and
endorsed by USGBC.

Jeffrey A. Horn, BOMI’s president and CEO, said “USGBC’s approval is major
recognition for one of our important technical courses. We are proud of this course and
gratified that USGBC recognizes its value in fostering sustainability and promoting
efficient energy management practices.”
